Every few months, I make a beauty purchase that I make my go-to when dressing up. I admit, my make-up routine has become pretty standard despite the event, and is often the same make up for school, work, and going out. I make sure to make my “going out” looks stand out from my everyday by incorporating something new each month.
Sometimes I like to spice things up with a primary colored eyeliner or flashy glitter nail polish. But with the months warming up, less is more when it comes to make up. I like to keep my look simple and subtle in the summer with basic bronzer and mascara. I like to keep my eye shadows between cream and bronze and rarely add color… except for my lips!
Summer is a perfect time to add a pop of color to the “natural look” with vibrant lipstick! The runways were instantly brightened by reds, corals, pinks, and orange lipsticks. My favorite color is MACs’ Russian Red (part of the Wonder Woman collection…. an instant MUST HAVE, since I’m obsessed with Wonder Woman). It easily works with rocker-chic leather shorts and nude pumps for night, as well as a beautiful contrast to a white summer dress.
Corals work on nearly all skin tone and can easily be coordinated with accessories. Orange tones look great when contrasted against the season’s color: neutrals.
Be sure to keep lips moisturized this summer with an SPF lip balm and use a delicate face exfoliator as a prep. Using a matching lipliner will also keep bright lipsticks from bleeding onto your skin.
