Last night, the Metropolitan Museum of Art held is annual Costume Institute Gala. This year, it was organized to pay homage to the fashion extraordinaire: Lee Alexander McQueen, the acclaimed designer who tragically took his own life last year. The exhibit (titled Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty; which opens May 4-July 31) showcases the great work of McQueen, celebrating the visionary that he was.
Celebrities, designers, socialites, muses, models, and It-Girls dressed for one of fashion’s biggest nights. Some, in honor of the late McQueen, dressed in some of his greatest archived styles, while others were fashioned by designer Stella McCartney, head chair of the evening. Below are a few of my favorites.
One theme that was apparent amongst some of the worlds most beautiful people was old-Hollywood glamour. While dresses took on a modern, McQueen-like approach, hair cascaded down in retro curls and red lipstick stained most champagne glasses.
The evenings best dressed was by far Gisele Budchen. The model looked like the Latina bombshell that she is, strutting down the red carpet in a gorgeous red McQueen gown.
Happy Studies! xoxo
