Well I finally am beginning to work out some of the kinks and tricky buttons of WordPress (after staring at my computer for hours!).. So I thought I would start off my first official post with trends and muses. Each season we see one trend evolve into another, slowly becoming something new and fresh. Despite previous thought, the metamorphosis of fashion comes from the wearer, not the designer. Yes, the houses of Alexander Wang, Lanvin, and Stella McCartney dictate much of what you find in stores, but where do these designers find their inspiration? In vacation, past collections, and muses.

Muses. It has become such a glamorized and spot-lighted title. The It-Girls (and guys) of our time drive the creative force of our dressers, music, and art. But the irresistibility of these inspirational faces and physiques does not come come from following the rules. These girls make their own. They are fresh, effortless, and innovative. They don’t give a damn what you think and they make sure you know. It’s not their beautiful face or glitzy lifestyle (well, maybe sometimes).. but rather their inner-beauty which is emulated by their joie de vivre. From Yoko Ono and John Lennon, to Edie Sedgwick and Andy Warhol (possibly Bob Dylan??), Kate Moss and possibly every designer after 1994… Muses rule cultural direction. Most recently, Blake Lively became the face of Chanel Mademoiselle Bags by Karl Lagerfeld; proving her golden girl attitude and chic style was worthy of It-Girl status.

I hope one day I can serve as inspiration for someone who is doing great things. Until then, I continue to look for my muse and direction. Who are your muses? And, where is your inspiration?
